“The alchemical signalman” was a interactive piece I did together with Zlatina Toleva back in 2012, as a part of the labyrinth installation Technomagica held in the National Polytechnical Museum. It was my first experiment with the immersive methods of the labyrinth theatre & theatre of the senses. Technomagica was dedicated to the the hidden laws in the world of matter and physical forces.

Towards the very end of the path that the visitors are going through, they enter a small space in the basement of the museum. There they mеet me – the alchemical signalman, reading up the emissions of their aura by using several crystal items and pronouncing ancient enchantments. He enters the information into an oldtimer landline phone system by rearranging the cables plugged into it and opens up a curtain revealing a long UV-lit corridor.

At the end of it, a shiny crystalline maiden appears and invited the visitor for a dance. They meet at the centre of the corridor and she sprinkles them with stardust. Then they split paths again and I help them find the way out while parting with them with a mystical frown on my face.
